Turtles all the Way Down by John Green is about Aza Holmes who is sixteen years old. Aza struggles with anxiety and mental illness while also trying to be a good daughter, friend, and student. Throughout the book it can be seen that Aza internally battles with her mental health journey. Her father died right in front of her which also haunts her to this day and her mother try to be there for her but does not understand what Aza is dealing with. The only person who Aza trusts most is her crazy best friend, Daisy.
When a billionaire goes missing after running away from the police. Aza and Daisy decided to go and solve the mystery, but it is Aza's long-time childhood friend's father who is missing. Davis complicates their case and makes Aza question whether it is the best idea to continue to solve it or not. Davis and Aza soon become attracted to each other which also makes it harder on Aza's control on her anxiety and internal struggle. There are two main subplots: one being an internal battle with herself and the other is trying to solve this mystery.
